Ugh. 24 hours later we have landed in Madrid. Not my best traveling day at all as I write this in a dark room with a migraine.
We departed Sac at 10am and made a quick trip to SFO before noon - there was nobody on the road. We had some lunch at In and Out before heading to long term parking and getting to the International Terminal exactly three hours early. We were the first ones there…
The flight was meh. 9.5 hours and only a little sleep. Two meals because they give you extra on international flights when domestic gives you a bag of pretzels. We made it to Heathrow and then had a two hour layover when I caught a nap on the floor of the airport…because migraine. Did you know people get Aerosinusitus? I didn’t before today. It hurts and it’s lingering.
Our next flight departed a bit late but we arrived on time the magic of time travel perhaps? We got some stamps for our passports, bought some Euros and got on the Uber app.
After getting an Uber - Mercedes van y’all! We trekked to our Air BnB which is unique! Unique is chic right? Perhaps it’s not the best sleeping situation for the five of us but mama made a reservation error and only had a hotel for the 26th and 27th…we didn’t have a room for the 28th, so we had to swap some things around. Cancel a reservation, get a new one, etc. All during Christmas week so pickings were slim to say the least. We will survive for two nights though.
With my migraine, I stayed back while everyone went out in search of food. They wanted pizza and found a place with gran and go style options. A plethora of choices later, they brought me back some to taste and then I had to write this before I plan to drift off to sleep.
We only have one day in Madrid tomorrow so it’ll be jam packed and we will need all the energy we can muster.
